I travelled up on Sunday and joined the rest of the team half way through our first day. The set-up of this event was unlike anything I had experienced before. The scale and attention to detail was immense.
We opening in the mornings and served bacon and sausage sandwiches in our speciality bread. We had a queue for these at 8 in the morning, and at around 11am we smoothly transitioned in to serving pizzas. We served about 6,000 slices of pizza on our busiest days per unit and we had two units there. That’s a lot of pizza!
As you can imagine the weather in Scotland can be somewhat unpredictable… This resulted in the final day of play being postponed due to the very high winds. We didn’t complain though as a hot slice of pizza proved very popular.
Looking forward to next years’ Open!
